What are Missional Communities?
Missional Communities (MCs) are the heartbeat of how we do life together at New City Church. They are small groups of people — families, singles, college students, couples, empty nesters, and everyone in between — who are united by the gospel and sent together into the rhythms of everyday life in Milledgeville. Rather than a program you attend, an MC is a people you belong to. We are bound not by convenience or common interests, but by a shared Lord, a shared faith, and a shared calling to love our neighbors and make Jesus known right here in our city.
In a town like Milledgeville, where relationships run deep and people know their neighbors, MC's take root naturally in the places we already gather — at Friday night ballgames, on front porches, around dinner tables, and along the streets of our neighborhoods. We don't have to manufacture community. We just have to be intentional about living it out with the gospel at the center.

Why are Missional Communities Important?
The Christian life was never meant to be lived alone or only within the four walls of a Sunday service. Missional Communities matter because they place the church where life actually happens — in our homes, our workplaces, our schools, and our community. In a small town culture like Milledgeville, where everyone's lives are already intertwined, we have a unique opportunity to demonstrate what it looks like when a group of people are genuinely devoted to Jesus and to one another.
MCs also remind us that every person — the young family with toddlers, the shift worker, the retiree, the college student — has a role to play in God's mission. The goal isn't a picture-perfect community with unlimited free time. The goal is a community that is growing in love for Jesus, love for each other, and love for the people around them. That kind of growth is possible for everyone, in every season of life.

What do Missional Communities do?
Missional Communities gather and scatter. When we gather, we share meals, open God's Word together, pray, and bear one another's burdens. When we scatter, we carry the gospel into the ordinary moments of our week — the carpool lines, the courthouse square, the local shops, and the neighborhoods we call home.
In Milledgeville, that might look like hosting a backyard cookout and inviting neighbors who don't yet know Jesus, serving alongside community organizations, or simply being the kind of consistent, caring presence on your street that points people toward something greater.
The measure of a healthy MC isn't how many events are on the calendar — it's whether people are growing in their love for God and their love for others. Everything we do together is shaped by that question: are we becoming more devoted to Jesus and more committed to the people He's placed around us? If the answer is yes, we're doing exactly what we're called to do.
